Volunteer Ambassador - various roles ODL has a commitment to ensuring that the voices of LGBTQ+ people over 50 are heard – by both service providers and policy makers. Our Ambassador programme is about supporting members to use their skills and experience to do this. Opening Doors London Ambassadors are LGBTQ+ people over 50 who want to volunteer with us and are confident about talking about the needs and experiences of LGBTQ+ over 50. Our Ambassadors make a significant contribution to the external representation and influence of ODL, and in doing so to uplifting the voices of LGBTQ+ people over 50 in policy, research and the media. We are currently recruiting for Ambassadors to support our work in three specific areas – in Health, Housing and Social Care, in Policy Advocacy and in Training. Health, Housing and Social Care Ambassadors We are looking for Health, Housing and Social Care Ambassadors to undertake the following: Assist the team in engaging with the health, housing and social care sectors Engage with community consultations in health, housing and social care Attend virtual meetings and conferences to promote the inclusion and better quality of health and care for older LGBTQ+ communities Promote Opening Doors London at relevant events and panels Spread the word about Opening Doors London – both within the LGBTQ+ communities and mainstream organisations For more information please email [email protected] Policy Advocate Ambassadors We are looking for Policy Advocate Ambassadors to undertake the following: Assist the ODL Research and Policy Officer build relationships with your local Council Attend Health and Wellbeing Board and other relevant Council meetings to influence LGBTQ+ inclusion in your local Council’s area Support the Research and Policy Officer with communications with relevant local Council departments and officers and with developing associated campaigns. Requirements All Ambassadors are required to keep abreast of the activities of fellow ODL Ambassadors by attending our bi-monthly Ambassador Forum, in addition to any relevant inductions and training.
