National Theatre

The National Theatre has set up a YouTube channel and will show one new play every Thursday, for free. If you miss the streaming, the play will stay on for you to catch up for seven days!

The Old Vic

From June, The Old Vic will be showing a selection of full length archive recordings for free of selected productions since Matthew Warchus became Artistic Director in 2015. The first show to air will be:

From Friday 5th June at 7pm: A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness directed by Sally Cookson (please note the link is to the Youtube channel where the play will be shown, but of course, you will not find it there until the 5th of June)

Shakespeare Globe

Watch Macbeth for free, a production created especially for young people, filmed from Shakespeare’s most famous stage, the Globe Theatre


Andrew Lloyd Webber

Andrew Lloyd Webber will be streaming his musicals online for free from the 3rd of April, in a new series entitled The Show Must Go On.

Each performance will be available for 48 hours on the YouTube channel.

The Wind in the Willows

This critically acclaimed West End production opened in June 2017, starring Rufus Hound as Toad, Simon Lipkin as Ratty, Craig Mather as Mole, Neil McDermott as Chief Weisel, Denise Welch as Mrs Otter and Gary Wilmot as Badger. 

Based on the classic children’s story by Kenneth Grahame, the musical was adapted for the stage by Julian Fellowes, with music and lyrics by award-winning British composers Stiles and Drewe and directed by Rachel Kavanaugh.

The Wind in the Willows

Only the Brave

Only the Brave, the hit musical starring Caroline Sheen and David Thaxton, is available for free online. The show, filmed by AdVision TV in 2016, tells the story of a group of soldiers in the run-up to the D-Day landings. It had its first run at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2008, before a full production premiered in 2016 at the Millenium Centre in Cardiff.
