What you'll do:

This is a support role to ensure the smooth running of each event. Volunteers work as a team to set up the event,cook and serve food, clear away dishes, and clear up at the end of the afternoon. Volunteers should be confident in making sure all members enjoy the event and where necessary gently encourage peopleto socialise with other members, especially if they are new to the group.  A Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety Certificate is required for this role.  If a successful candidate doesn’t have one we will supply an online link to one and reimburse associated costs.  

Duties will include

  • Planning the menu in line with dietary requirements of guests when required. 
  • Purchasing ingredients for the Sunday Lunch when required. 
  • Leading on or assisting with the cooking of the food when required.
  • Acting as the lead volunteer in the lead volunteer’s absence
  • Serving lunch to members and helping clearaway afterwards. 
  • Meeting and greeting members, especially welcoming new members, introducing them to other people and ensuring they feel welcome and helping them to integrate.Encouraging all members to mix well together. 
  • Sitting and eating with the members and being part of the social group, joining in withconversations and ensuring new members feel comfortable.
