Fitness Routines and Workouts

  • The importance of staying active and fit cannot be over stated. Staying indoors does not have to mean sitting down on the sofa all day, in fact, this could be your opportunity to discover that you enjoy working out with simple, safe exercices! Check out these 10 minutes workouts put together by the NHS on their One You website.

  • Check out this fantastic series of videos from Later Life Training - Bex has been running a series of sessions 'Make Movement your Mission' 3 times a day (8am, 12, and 4pm) for 10 minutes live since Monday 23 March. The videos will remain on their Youtube. Click here.

  • If you find it difficult to stand, the NHS has put together a series of seated exercices for a full body workout! Click here.

For people with disabilities, staying active is even more important! The playlist on the left contains a few videos produced by the US National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability (NCHPAD). A Calmer Way of Staying Fit

  • Yoga for Healthy Ageing with occupational therapist Julie Luciani - This is the full class, designed to be practiced 30 minutes in a chair and 30 minutes standing, Julie's original class is accessible for people of all ages and ability levels.

  • Follow along this 20 minutes full Qi Gong routine with this silent teacher! So calming, so wonderful! Try it, it is just amazing, the routine is called '8 Pieces of Silk Brocade

  • Check out this You Tube channel - Feldenkrais With Alfons - where instructor Alfons teaches you some techniques from the Fenelkrais Method. The Feldenkrais Method is a type of exercise therapy devised by Israeli Moshé Feldenkrais during the mid-20th century. The method is claimed to reorganize connections between the brain and body and so improve body movement and psychological state.

David-Dorian is an international competitive tai chi champion. He is a former member of the San Francisco Wushu team, the US National Tai Chi team and two U.S. National Wushu teams. He competed at the first World Wushu Championships in Beijing in 1991 and was the only non-Asian out of 42 participating countries to win a medal. He is an 8-time U.S. gold medalist, world silver medalist and 2-time world bronze medalist in tai chi forms competition.
