We are seeking a volunteer who will support our Communications Officer and Community Fundraising Officer with the ongoing and varied work of promoting ODL to a wide range of stakeholders and fundraisers, actively enhancing ODL’s visibility including:

  • ODL Members
  • ODL Volunteers
  • External organisations
  • Existing and potential fundraisers
  • Existing and potential event hosts
  • Press
  • Media

What you’ll be doing

As a communications and fundraising volunteer, you will be expected to work at least one day a week and occasionally some evenings and weekends. You will primarily be working to promote ODL via our social media channels Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. This role will begin with working from home until we can return to our office.

There are a range of duties you’d be expect to take on:

  • Co-moderating social media accounts in line with ODL’s Moderation Policy
  • Developing and promoting ODL’s social media presence – Twitter, Facebook, Instagram
  • Creating and posting engaging content about ODL events and other services on our social media platforms
  • Developing, promoting and support fundraising opportunities and events

To thank you for your commitment, we will support you to develop your strength and abilities. We welcome those with experience in related fields though this is not a requirement as training and support will be provided.


We are looking for a highly organized, creative individual, a strong team player with good interpersonal and communication skills. Although experience working in a charity or communications and fundraising are not required, they are desirable.

Volunteers are required to attend any relevant training and two volunteer forums annually.
Volunteers should be committed to and competent in member, volunteer and organisation confidentiality, and mindful of Information Governance policy.
